Another Newbie...with Q's..
Nice site. I've been on here a couple of days, looking around, reading..shyly hanging in the background, (not unlike I do in real life), waiting to summon the courage to post.
I do not know if I am of Native American blood or not. I was adopted when I was very young. My adoptive father, is of Chickasaw heritage. I never cared about where I came from, until I was in my early 20's, when people started asking me about my race. That led to more questions, I asked my parents what they knew of my biological parents. They said that the courts wouldn't tell them anything, and as I later found out, the state of Oklahoma is very hush hush about adoption matters. The court turned down my request to obtain my records, they wouldn't even let me have the "medical record" portion of my files. I have since put my name on the adoption registry of Oklahoma, but with no results, and it has been at least 10 years since I did so. I need to know my background, it's almost an "aching longing", and unless your adopted, it's hard to understand the drive---the NEED-- almost, behind it. Forgive me of my ignorance in this matter, but how do I go about aquiring a blood test, if indeed such a test exists, that I can find out my heritage? Yes, I suppose I could ask my adoptive father, but he doesn't really know that I'm on this, uh, little quest, because frankly , when I asked them about my "real" parents, they didn't seem real willing to talk about it. I'll just leave it there for now, and hopefully someone can help answer my question. Thank you.

Welcome to the site. I know of your question I was not adopted but grew up with little knowledge only enough to make me more curious. Now it is too late because the people with the answers are gone to the Spirit World. So do not stop asking the questions of those who might know. I know it will take courage to ask again, but you may be surprised when they feel your need to know. Because everyone has the right to know. Good luck

Welcome to the site. It's a really good place to be for all kinds of things. I think it's safe to say everyone has alot of fun on here.
As for your quest good luck and I hope you find what your looking for. I've known a couple of ppl that where native and adopted and it was very hard to find the info they we're looking for. So the DNA test sound like a good idea to find out at least if your native, then you can go for there. Again I wish you all the best and I hope you are able to get some answers. And you can always come here and ask can't promise someone will have the answer, but I'm sure someone will at least be able to tell you where to start looking.
