Nice to meet you!
Hi-
I'm from Denver, CO. I moved here about 7 years ago from Albq, NM. I grew up on the Navajo Res at which point I joined the USAF and was stationed out in Las Vegas, NV. Several events lead me back home and eventually back to NM. A job lead got me to Colorado and I've been here ever since. I have 2 children, a son who dances grass and a daughter who dances jingle. I've been wanting to join this site for a while but I just never got around to it. So, hello everyone. |

Hey, welcome to Pws.com! This site is a great site to for pow-wow information, pow-wow gossip, and learn about other natives. I used to live in N.M., but I'm back home now in Texas.
Again, welcome! Happy Posting!

Thanks
Thanks, I'm just learning all the links on this site..I love it.
I've just been surfing and reading all the posts from the drum idol thing to crafts. Do you miss NM? I miss my family. I have no relatives out here, just my husband's side. I'm looking forward to the Denver March Powwow coming up this weekend. It'll be the 2nd time my kids have danced..they were just initiated in February. I'm excited for them. |

I miss Albuquerque very much! I went to UNM in 1996, and stayed in Albuquerque for a couple of years and a year in Zuni, NM. If I didn't get married and have a baby, I probably would've made my move to Albuquerque more permanent. I miss the food and I miss my friends, but I love being back home, too.
Do you miss being home?

Yes, I do miss Albuquerque, but I don't think I could live there again. I've been out here too long and we've grown accustomed. Will you be going back for this year's Gathering of Nations Powwow? We usually make an effort to go, thats where I met my husband.

We were going to GON, but we had to cancel our plans as of last week. We just bought a new SUV last month and with rising costs of gas, I think we should've just opted for a bigger car, so we're not going after all. My daughter is still young, too, so that was a huge factor in not going as well. I hope we will next year. I haven't been there in 2 years. My cousin still lives in Albuquerque. We went out there the same time. He's married to a Navajo, and has a family. They told us we could stay with them, but we don't want to impose.
I figured you would be missing home like crazy! My cousin tried to bring his wife out here, but she hated being away from her family. I guess I can relate. That's the reason i came home. GON is a great place to meet people and future husbands! *LOL* Some of my friends have done that. I haven't. I met my husband here at home. He's a rezzy like me. Is your husband navajo too?

No, my husband is Italian, I know, what was he doing at the GON. haha
His best friend is a Ute Mt Ute..so he decided to come with and I'm happy he did. Thats too bad you had to change your plans. Don't feel bad, our vacation this year was to do some camping up in Yosemite but thats been changed to Yellowstone due to gas prices. I'm actually kinda glad, we have 4 kids and I wasn't looking forward to that drive. Your daughter is beautiful, thats a great picture of her. I hope to have a pic up soon of me...I've been busy finishing my son's regalia..I'm adding ribbonwork to his grass dance outfit. This is my first time sewing and beading and its been tough. I'm also done though, do you dance? |

![]() Thank you for the compliments on my daughter's pic. Yeah, she's getting bigger. I need to update her pic. Can't wait to see your pics whenever you get them up. No, but I used to dance up until I was about 22. I'm 30 now. I wish I could dance again, but beading a whole new regalia would take a while. I am a lady singer though. I'm not great, but I love to sing southern songs. Do you dance? Do all of your kids dance?
