Just stumbled across this place. Im Cherokee and Choctaw, and my daughter is half Apache. Would love to meet some new friends.

Welcome to the site. I've just joined about a week or so ago. I used the site to see some powwow dates but never joined the actual forum. Pretty interesting!

I joined for the same reason, although Ive never been to a powwow, I have been thinking about going to one.

Good Morning from Canada. Welcome I started coming to the site for the same reason [Pow wow dates] and have now found it full of knowledge, fun and even peace of mind sometimes. So welcome and enjoy.

Oh well I recommend you go! I haven't been as much lately as I'd like since my move to TX. There are a few coming up in Houston in Nov that I plan to get to. Easier when they are close.

I totally agree go to a Pow wow. I have found though after you go to your first one you are always looking for the next one.

There are always powwows in Oklahoma and right next door to you
This time of year is a good time to go also
They are smaller and less "hectic"
As a matter of fact there will be a Powwow this Weekend in Tahlequah at the Sequoyah Old Gym

I didnt realize that, there is one this weekend right by me.

Above all watch, listen, learn and show respect for the Elders. You are so lucky down South. When summer is over up here we have very few Pow wows.

Take a chair
bring a small amount of money to support the committee they will be selling raffles for various items usually 1$ for 4 or 5 tickets.
Listen to the MC they will tell you when you need to stand for the Grand entry or when someone is being honored

Mostly just Watch and Listen
I am sure there will be traders set up so check out there stuff
And have a good time!

This is Southern Country soooo....

200pm Gourd Dance
500pm Supper
600pm Gourd Dance
700pm Grand Entry
Intertribal rest of the evening
This is not a Contest Dance...
