You see I'm a fancy shawl dancer, but I haven't been dancing long, maybe 5 years. I don't own any plumes though, to go with my outfit. People tell me to get them from Wild Life Preservation, or to buy them from a store. But I strongly believe that people should only where feathers that are A: given to them. Or B: have been earned. I still dance without feathers to this day. What are your thoughts?

I strongly agree with you..........that's what I was always told from my elders too.......and that's good to hear that you still dance, but haven't worn a plum to this day........I really respect that of you.

I don't have plumes. But I was given an eagle feather for grad. Do you have to wear plumes or can you were other kinds of feathers?

I have seen some women wear plumes, others wear feathers. IF you are respectful I say go for it.

Just make sure the feather is held tight in the barette so that it doesn't fall out, if that happens then its big time trouble

yeah it's a nice looking feather and I don't know what to do with it. I think I'll speak to a few more people and go from there. I'm very nervous when it comes to feathers.
