Hello my name is Ronna. I live in California - San Francisco area. I have been trying to find those who are Seminole or know how to contact someone. I want to be involved with my culture.
My Great-Grandfather was Seminole. I am a 4th generation. My Grandfather married an African-American. I have been told that 4th generation below does not count in claiming to be Seminole. But it would be the closest I have to a connection to a culture, and my past (on African-American side cannot count impossible to get background info). Anyways, I have tried to read books about the culture, and learn their history, but it is not the same as actually talking with someone or having them teach me things. So again, if anyone knows an organization in the Bay Area, or a place to go (Pow Wow), I would definitely appreaciate it. Thank you. Ronna Oh - I am also a new member, so hello to everyone too.

Hello and welcome to PWs.
![]() I can't help yow learn about your heritage, but I can understand how you feel about wanting to be a part of your native nation .... all I can recommend is to learn all you can about the seminole culture and be glad that you can share in it and pass it on to your children.

Hello and Welcome. I can't help much but I think I can give u a lil bit. You could probally google and find the tribes web site. On the page there will prob be a number and you can call and ask any questions that u have. I say that no matter what degree of blood you have your are NDN if you keep the traditions and make you culture part of your life. What the government considers as Native, well that's a different story. The US Govt. considers any one who is 1/4 of more to be Native. Although every tribe has their own membership requirements. Good Luck on your search

thank u for your response. i've contacted them. they considered since i am so far away (in another state), that i should search around in California for Seminoles. i live in the San Francisco Bay area so, i'm still looking.
but thank you so much for responding. i really appreaciate it cuz it has been a hard road (about 7mths), of finding out what to do, and contacting the site, and so forth. but i'm still going. Rona |
