Caring for Aging Parents
My dad lives with me and is 87 and mostly still there. He has a few health problems and some memory issues. I am wondering what kinds of memory issues anyone else caring for elderly parents have seen?
He repeats things, forgetting he's said them already. He remembers things that happened days ago as if it was a few minutes. He also turns things around in his head- ask him to leave the bathroom door open and he closes it and insists that's what you told him to do. Anyone out there had things like this happen? Any ideas on dealing with it? All I want is to make what time there is left as happy as possible for him. But his vision is horrible and he cannot read, which just rips him up. Any ideas would be appreciated. |
