(NAC) Native American Circle, Ltd. (NAC) is a non-profit, federally tax exempt victim advocacy organization. NAC's programs are available to tribes operating batterer intervention and victim services programs to aid survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking crimes, as well as to non-Indian programs desiring to offer culturally competent victim services. Our training materials are based on the conviction that attempting to evaluate another person's culture, beliefs and traditions according to the standards and values of a distinctly different cultural base results in inaccurate perceptions. NAC’s programs are designed to foster admiration of indigenous cultures and pride in cultural-connectedness, while fueling interest in recovering non-violent, traditional lifestyles in today’s American Indian/Alaska Native communities. Mission: Native American Circle, Ltd. has been established as a non-profit, federally tax-exempt corporation that operates independently of any tribe or indigenous nation. We are committed to providing resources and options to rural areas that are predominantly populated by Native people, but we are inter-tribal and interracial in concept. We will not practice discrimination, but endeavor to provide services regardless of race, religion, ethnic or cultural identity. As a result, we do not seek revenue or funding assistance for our programs from any tribe. Native American Circle's goals are: 1) To create a model shelter and substance-abuse treatment program which operate in conjunction with one another to effectively treat the whole person;2) To create training and educational tools and resources that are individually specific to rural Native American communities; and 3) To work as an independently-operating source for grant-writing; grant-writing assistance, grant facilitation assistance designed to serve tribes and communities on an individual, customized "needs P.O. October was National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Well Nations Magazine a superb Native publication put out by Kevin Peniska Sr in Rapid City SD, and the Sept-Oct issue was dedicated to domestic violence issues in the Native community.
"Women ARE Sacred. Violence Against Women is Not Traditional. Remember to listen to our sisters murdered by their batterers. Work to end violence against those still being battered. Celebrate the courage and strengths of those who survived and recreated their lives." CANGLESKA INC
