anyone on here had bells palsy or know some one who has had it?

what all did you/they do? how long did it last? do you/ they still have it?

Did not realize how common it actually is and how many in just cheorkee have had it.

there are a lot of message boards out there about it, no real cure for it, just time.

My sister and 2 of my cousins have had Bells Palsy. For each of them, the time to recover was different. There really wasn't anything they could do except to try and cut some of the stress out in their lives.

It was a nuisance for them but it's just something you have to live with and let it run its course.

Yah my son had it last year in July, we thought at first it was some type of heat stroke, since we live here in Ok. So we took him to the ER and discovered it was Bells Palsey. They gave him a steroid shot to reduce the swelling in the inner ear. It took about a month for his face to stop sagging. It was scary at first and now realize it is more common than we though. Just recently my sister in-law had it to.

My Auntie had a spell with it a few months ago. It started out like a tootheache, then she woke up and her face was really sagging! It was really awful, she had one eye that wouldn't open, and the other that wouldn't close. She said it was painful. It took like a month to clear up. I believe it is genetic, but We don't know what causes it to act up? It was really hard on her and I hope she doesnt have to go through that again! I really feel for anyone who has to go through that.

well I just got it last week, speech, eating really are a chore now.

started as a ear ache - thought i had ear infection, then the next day, could'nt grip a straw, then the third day - face is drooping, so they gave me pills, and antiviral pills.
a little aggravating, no one else in my family has had it, so this is a new one for us.

a week later now, my sons are picking on me about my speech, and they notice a little bit different each day, so they are all invovled and actually helpful.

bells palsy

i had bells palsy two years ago it was very scary i thought i'd suffered a stroke, the whole right side of my face fell i had to tape my right eye shut when i slept, eating and drinking where so embarrasing. i just got back my ability to be able to whistle and pucker like i was going to kiss that i lost for so long i thought i was never going to get the use of that back. its very debilitating. i had intense pain in my face becuase i would clench my jaw when i would sleep. i hope i don't get it again but you never know.

In the olden days when someone got bells palsy it was diagnosed as "that person was witched and their face twisted!" Have any of you heard that? I belong to three tribes and each has a word or phrase that describes this.

Today, bells palsy is a condition that is medically diagnosed and treated. Fatigue, stress and being overheated are some of the causes that trigger bells palsy.

My brother in law just got it last week. He was eating and his jaw popped then it seemed to develop over the next few days.

The doc gave him steroids and an antiviral medicine. They said a virus probably affected his 7th facial muscle. He was working long days without a break and was probably suseptible cuz of that.

My sister in law gave him a facial (don't laugh) and massaged his face (she's in massage therapy school) and it really seemed to help. He tapes his eye shut at night.

My friend's step son got it when he was 4 after being hit by a pillow in the face. It took a month to get better. They were going to do electro-stimulation if it didn't clear up.

I heard it's rare, but sometimes it doesn't go away. I think those are the ones who are WITCHED!!

My friend Minnie got it last year...she said it was painful and it really did a number on her face!!Mouth all twisted to the side and sagging eyelids. She looked like she had a stroke, and that's what everyone thought, but it was Bell's....she is well now though, but it took the better part of a year to get back to normal.Scary stuff!!But on the lighter side, even though her mouth was on the side of her face, she still kept a smile on it!!....

I'm still afflicted by it two years later now...
I can feel the coldness in my ear canal and my eye will feel dry

To others it may seem like you have tooth pain, cause mine sits on those nerves
