Female Hair Loss

Female hair loss seems to run in my family. When I hit my mid-30's, my hair started to thin as well. Now it's freaking me out!!! I'm serious, it's so embarassing! I've tried shampoos, Shen-Min from GNC, and even women's Rogaine. Nothing has worked so far. Anyone else suffer from this and have any advice?

Thyroid

You ladies might want to consider getting your thyroid function checked as complications with this can lead to female hair loss.

Alopcia Areata

Check out info on this condition as well.

I started to loose some hair in my early 20s. Then it stopped by the time I was in my late 20s it started up again. I was loosing hair by the handful. Especially in the shower. I was tested several times and my thyroid was perfect. One of the symptoms of alopecia areata is if you suddenly find a tiny bald spot someplace on your head, and a few days later, it's mysteriously gone.... then it's probably alopecia.

NEYWAYS.... there is something you can do!!!! go to a dermatologist and they should perscribe you something called betamethasone dipropionate. It's a topical lotion that you need to apply to your scalp 2Xs a day AND you have to shampoo daily with head and shoulders INTENSIVE care (the dk blue bottle) AND you have to take a multi vitamin AND you have to increase the amount of proteins you eat per day to like 40-60 grams of protein per day... IT DOES WORKS....

Hope this was of some help to you.

oops!

I forgot to mention that alopecia areata was commonly linked with women who had seasonal hayfever and severe allergies.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it...but my hair has never come out in bald spots like that. I probably still should see a dermatologist though.

I have the same issue as well, Bikerbabe. In my latter 20's, I noticed I was "shedding" mostly on one side. It's slowed down a bit, but I can still tell and don't pull my hair back as often as before. I really do think it was a reaction from getting off DEPO shots (injected birth control). Perhaps your hair loss was also a reaction from medication???

try the shampoo used on horses? It works. It suppose to promote hair growth and prevent breakage in horses. Many horsetrainers use it on themselves too.

Ahhh, "Tail & Mane". I'll have to give it a shot. Just hope it doesn't add to the thickness of the rest of my hair. It was razzored thinner last month and STILL is a handfull.

Eeeeesh, shouldn't gripe about that when some of it's thinning. :: hangs head ::

Thanks for the tip!
