My mother had it done last Fall; she just visited us from Oregon last week. She looks so different without her thick glasses; she had bi-focals. She's so happy to be able to do beadwork without glasses; she had both her near and far sighted distances corrected. She was having to have her perscription for vision changed almost yearly, so with all the costs of glasses and contacts, she was putting just as much money out as the surgery cost her.

Someone had started a thread about lasik in the past. I had asked for the costs, but got no reply. I saw it being done on Jessica Simpson on MTV'S NEWLYWEDS. It looked it would hurt, but I believe it works. I only wish that I could afford it.
I've had glasses since I was in junior high, but I didn't start wearing 'em every day until last year when my eye sight started getting worse. I hate having to push my glasses up on my nose all the time. I have two pairs and never considered wearing contacts because my eyes are sensitive and get irritated a lot. Just my thoughts.... |

My friend just had it done and can see so much better! I think he had a combination though with cataracts as well but his glasses were coke bottles! he's always said he liked my beadwork but since the eye surgery he's been ooing and aweing so I think he must have been being polite before LOL!

i've read in men's health that you want it done in the winter months when the humidity is lower. because your eyes hold more water when it's humid ( one of the parts of the eye, but i can't remember which, be it cornea or lens.) and often times people who get it done when it's humid tend to need it done again......

My hubby had lasik done a couple of years ago & it's wonderful I'm next. oh yeah what Thumper said is true you should have it done in the fall or winter. I live in Florida so I'm sort of screw*ed
na it's less humid in the winter.

I had a thread on here somewhere. i had lasik done in January of this year. My vision is excellent now. At first the ghosting on the lights at nite made driving seem harder than usual but thats going away now. I also had heard (before the surgery) that my farsightedness would be affected but it hasnt! I love my eyes! I am soooo glad I had the surgery because glasses and contacts really suck. :)
Good luck! I think you should go for it! |

I just had a baby, well almost 7 months ago, and I had to wait, but I am plannin on having it done this winter...I am so excited to think that I won't have to wear my glasses or contacts anymore..I am looking forward to it, but a little nervous too...the cost is high, but it has gone down in the past few years...

No one has mentioned the loss of your periphial vision after Lasik surgery. It's probably the primary reason I have not gone in for the procedure. Any comments from those of you who have had the procedure?

I have great peripheral vision. My eyes are fantastic! Its been a few years now and I have not developed any vision irregularities. I'd say go for it.
