I think I may retake calc this fall. My prof showed us a problem that the po-po could use to catch someone speeding so if anyone fought it in court saying they weren't speeding, you could use the I think it was the Mean Value Theorum to prove you wrong! LOL I did not get integrals for the life of me..I would get them in class then I would go home and do homework and I would be lost!

Smeshigaud~Hhmmm...I'll have to check out the Theorum. Yeah, substitution and integration by parts--yeah, not so fun. I swear they just make that stuff up just to confuse people.

We can turn this into a "Why I Hate Calc" thread. :Chatter

Oh Gawd!! I hated Calc, too. I was totally lost the whole semester, but passed the final. All I remember is how falling bodies pick up speed and something about a spaghetti farm.

I think we had a wacko teacher. At least he spoke English. My last Math teacher was a Pakistani (I think?) grad student and nobody could understand him!!

WindInMyHair, If you're interested in Atkins you should really buy the book and read it thoroughly. It's like $6 at WalMart. Or go the Atkins web site and READ READ READ! Or look for a Protein Power book. It's not safe to only follow part of the diet, ie. meat and green leaves.

Atkins and Protein Power and high (adequate) protein/low carbohydrate diets. You gotta exercise, drink lots of water, take vitamins, cut the carbs drastically, eat enough protein to minimize muscle loss, and eat lots of veggies and some low carb fruits. Kiss potatoes, corn, bread, pasta, and sugar goodbye!

I think Protein Power is better cuz it stresses eating GOOD oils like olive oil, Omega-3's, and NOT eating sugar alcohols and/or aspartame(Equal/Nutrasweet).

For those that are only using the low carb diets just to loose weight,at least you have a choice. Unfortunately there are some of us who have to be on a low carb count daily and not by choice. Being hypoglycemic it a pain in the butt to have to keep up with carb count all day so you don't spike and then drop out hard and fast. Has happened more than once when my carb counts went high. You all extremely lucky you have a choice.

Let me contribute my $.02. I tried Atkins once before for about four weeks. While it does work, it is not the way to lose weight. Red Meat = Good? Fruit = Bad? There is something inherently wrong with that.

No pain, no gain. If you want to lose weight, you are going to hurt, and you are going to sweat, and you are going to make sacrifices.
