Lasik

I'm sooooo tired of my contacts and my glasses are the least favorite thing i wanna wear. SO i went in for a consultation for lasik finally! Yes I wanna step over to the surgically corrected side. I've heard so many great things about this operation but have read a lot of the bad things that happen too. Anyways i went in for the consulation and he said i had to come back in for another exam in 2 weeks, to let my eyes adjust from my constant contact use.

Well just post your stories here about your surgery... how it went, what it was like... how good your recovery was and any kind of bad issues u had to deal with.

I'm kinda nervous but I really wanna get my eyes corrected. Anyways pray that I qualify for this operation cuz I wanna be glasses-less! at least til i gotta start wearin reading glasses when i'm older.

ok wish me luck and i wanna hear your stories.

I'm too chicken to get this surgery, so I'll just stay blind.:p

BUT my friend had it done, didn't have any trouble, and healed fairly quickly. She loves that fact that she can see clearly as soon as she wakes up in the morning without fumbling for her glasses.

I know a couple other people that have had it done with good results.

shawneebuck is an unknown quantity at this point
I had the surgery about a yr ago. I am overall very happy with the procedure. My only chief complaint about the procedure is that my night vision is not as good as it was before the surgery. It is not bad by any means, just not as "clear". I am happy and I like not having to find my glasses or worry about my contacts. It was expensive for me, but as far as I am concerned, It was money well spent.

You know super, now they have the surgery out there to correct that "I need glasses I'm getting old" line. If I am not mistaken, which I could very well be, (but highly doubtful), the procedure or surgery is relatively new.

Af far as the lasik went, I had good vision the next day. I had to keep my eyes closed for 24 hrs after the surgery and then for a week or two I had to wear patches over my eyes while I slept so I couldn't rub my eyes. The surgery itself was virtually pain free and no pain after. So in saying all of this, I would in a heartbeat, do it all over again without a doubt.

I hope you can get it!! It's the best thing!! I like not having to wear contacts or glasses anymore. It will be two years in June--and I've had nothing terrible go wrong. The surgery was weird, but you don't feel anything...so...no worries.

What I'm wondering is how much is the cost of the procedure? I wouldn't mind having it done, but I'm worried about my finances right now. Maybe later.

i am so glad i had lasik because it definately worked for me becaue my eyesight was just awful and i couldn't see anything without contacts. i had lasik about 5 years ago.

before they started the surgery i was asked to read what time it was on the clock. i couldn't even tell where a clock was on the wall!! the surgery only took like 5 minutes on each eye and before i sat up i could read what time it was. my vision was 20/20 afterwards. it's not painful at all. you'll just feel a little pressure from the laser, but nothing about it hurts. and they explain everything they're doing.

it took me a while to get used to waking up and seeing and not freaking out that i had left my contacts in overnight! afterward your eyes will be a little scratchy. my night vision has changed, but i definately think it's worth it. go for it!!!

But....without the glasses what will be your excuse for your nerdiness SG.......I'm one to talk, with my ugly "peepers"...I want to get the surgery too, but dang, I was quoted $4,000, plus or minus with tax.... :Mad. Keep us posted though.... by the way, two folks I know had it performed and they love it! Adamant of saying it's the best choice they made. Janet says she has to use glasses to drive at night, but other than that, she loves it.... good luck on Tuesday....
