ok i know that if someone has herpes and you kiss or have sex you can get herpes.
but what other ways can you get it? i read that it was spread through the air too. so does that mean just being in a closed space with someone opens you up to it?
i know im just paronoid but it helps to have some info.

OK, there are several types of herpes, two of which are HSV 1 and HSV 2 (HSV = Herpes Simplex Virus). Most of us have HSV 1 in our system it is the virus that makes cold sores pop out on our lips when we are stressed, etc. The other of note, HSV 2 is genital herpes. Once you get it, you've got it--there is no cure. 75% of those infected in this country do not have symptoms and do not know they have it and pass it on unwittingly (then there are those that know but don't care...) Anyway, HSV 2 or genital herpes can be spread anytime mucous is shared, i.e. orally through kissing normally or oral sex. It is also, obviously, spread by vaginal and anal sex. When someone with HSV 2 has an actual 'outbreak' they will know it! A sore on the genitals--both male and female--or even buttocks and thigh at times--that is initially a shiny, red raised area that has little white pustules in it is the most obvious sign. But as stated previously, the virus can 'shed' (that's the medical term) periodically and the carrier will have no symptoms, no sores. Those folks who have lived with HSV 2 awhile may become aware of 'sensations' that happen just prior to an outbreak. There is no cure. However, there is reliable treatment. Some people take a course of Acyclovir twice a day for several years just to ward off outbreaks. Others wait until they feel an outbreak coming on and then take Acyclovir three times a day for several weeks until there are no symptoms. [Acyclovir is just one of the available meds].

HERPES IS NOT TRANSMITTABLE THROUGH THE AIR!

You have to be intimate to get it. The best thing is to have only one sex partner at a time; and be very confident that they are exclusive to you! I should add this disheartening fact: An individual who has been in a monogamous relationship for years but had many partners prior may not even have an outbreak for ten years or so. Which makes the other partner think they've been stepped out on. Not necessarily the case. The Herpes virus can lie dormant for some time. It attacks the nerves when it does attack. Maybe your life is calm and serene and eight years after you've been infected and don't know it you are in a highly stressful situation and BOOM you have your first noticeable outreak. So, if it turns out your partner is infected it will be natural for you to panic and figure you are infected, too. You may be, you may not be, depending on whether the virus was ever shedding or live when you were intimate. And, you may also figure that since your partner is infected that they became infected fairly recently and were unfaithful. There is really no way of knowing. Research has revealed that the virus has been known to lie dormant for 10-15 years. The flip side of this is that if you have HSV 2 and the first couple of years you're taking meds right and left, the odds are that your nerve response will diminish, taper off and the virus will go dormant. But, it is never truly gone.....

can you goet herpes from a toilet, or from a loofah sponge? you know how people will sometimes use your stuff when they stay bat your house....I'm clueless on this matter

He would come down stairs and scratch down there saying, "Sh@#! My 'You know what' is burning and itching!!" :flaming:

I would bust out laughing and ask why? like we ALL didn't know why, and he'd casually say "Oh you know, the good old herpes are flaring up again!!" :lol2: LMNAO!!!

But he always bragged that he had safe sex with girls and when he had flare ups he would be careful and he always informed his girls of his little 'visitor'!!

He was some white rocker guy that thought he was the mack daddy of Silicon Valley!!! :dating:

Therefore, the toilet seat and loofah are a no. But where mucous to mucous contact occurs, i.e. the virus is shedding or there is an outbreak transmission will occur. Example: 'Dolly' doesn't know she's shedding. She has sex with 'Roy'. There is a high probability that Roy will get Herpes 2. A CONDOM DOES NOT PROTECT AGAINST HERPES because condoms are not airtight and mucous and virus can be present ABOVE the top of the condom. That guy with active herpes that was banging women should be shot! Of course, the women shoulda been more selective, too. His wearing protection with an active outbreak doesn't protect the woman at all. Besides, what woman in her right mind would have sex with a man who has a sore on his genitals? What's wrong with this picture? It takes 2-3 weeks for an outbreak to heal. This guy is nuts! Either that or he is in to pain because the reality is if he's having sex during an outbreak with or without a condom it's going to be painful. I think he's bs' ing folks and just wants attention. Sheesh!
