Good work, guys. Hope you all have a good dance, Bob. If the smoke out here gets any worse, we may just show up.

Most powwows though will have either water bottles for dancers or them big yellow coolers and cups. I have seen watergirls once- seemed to be an okay idea, but I would prefer not to have women in that role. |

Well here in So Cal at Southern California Indian Center's Annual Pow Wow (aka Orange County Pow Wow) we have had the position of a waterboy part of our head staff for many, many years now. We usually ask a young man who is involved in our organization's educational component. We know the importance of keeping everyone hydrated, especially in the summer months. Our orgaization was put together by many individuals who came to So. California on relocation from Oklahoma, so this is one of the reasons why we always make sure we have a waterboy at our annual pow wow.
By the way if anyone is in the So. Cal area, our 40th Annual Pow Wow is being held next weekend July 25, 26, & 27, 2008 at the Autry National Center-Griffith Park in Los Angeles. It is directly across from the Los Angeles Zoo. This is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) pow wows in California. |
