Head Spectator
I just heard of a new Head Staff position, that was bestowed on my Tunkansida (Dakota Grandpa), Judson Brave.
Appearantly there was a powwow (appx. 10 year's ago) and he was given a head staff position of "Head Spectator." He invited supporters to sit with him and had a little giveaway in his honor! I only recently heard this.... but it is kinda an innovative "new" powwow position .... if you think about it!

That's gotta be the best position available! All the benefits, minimal work. With all the folks running around working hard to make the powwow a success, someone needs to sit and enjoy!

Andre, This is so true! Judson is an extremely well respected elder in his community. Isn't this a good way of giving our eldest of elders a sign of respect? It is a natural win-win situation (the kind of situations I like). You recognize the elder in a good way and you have their support in return!!!!

Yeah, our powwow does this each year. Except we have an 'Honored Elder' and a 'Honored Veteran' from our community that we honor at our powwow. Our committee gives them gifts, cash and an honor song. Sort of like a head spectator I guess!
