can u Nominate Head dancers???

I saw this lady at a traditional powwow this wknd. She was an excellent Jingle dress dancer. She was alwyas out during intertribals even though it was stiffling hot outside. The thing that caught my eye to her though was when she did exhibition, during the side step, she made sure to take her plume out. she was always talking to people and helping out the elders during the feast and it looked like she had fun doing it.
anyways back to my original question....can you like pretty myuch go to a powwow committee and tell them what i saw at the powwow and see what they think?

The observation of this woman and your question is valid.

How the committee responds to your request will depend on if the committee are your relations, tribesmen or close friends.

It is up to the committee to accomodate their head staff once they are chosen. At this point it becomes their responsibility and not yours for the financial commitment for food, travel, lodging and honorarium. So you can see how your recommendation can be a small variable in the entire process of choosing head staff - unless you have a close relationship with influential powwow committee members.

I think it would be a good gesture to approach this jingle dress dancer and tell her of your observations and that they didn't go unnoticed. Tell her you appreciate her, she is a good example and "if were up to you," she would be on the head staff.

pretty impressive considering alot of times you don't even see the head dancers dancing every intertribal or doing thier job.

i would say to someone on the committee about her. to at least have her activities acknowledged by the committee.
