hi, i want to start grass dancing but i don't know where to begin. someone asked me what kind of medinice i carry. what does that mean? do i need to go and ask a medinice man? i'm navajo, so is there a special protocals i need to follow?

ummmmmm well my son being Navajo, we understand. However, when I brought him out, I didn't allow him to dance in regalia until it was fully made and done. Then we had elder grassdancers (friends) who assisted us on bringing him into the circle. But as I was taught, I taught him the history and the meaning of being a grass dancer. I had to teach him about respect and humbleness including what it means to dance in the arena. Usually an elder will help assist you in that, 'preparing', takes time and patience. I would suggest getting an elder, mainly one from the north or a fellow dancer who already belongs to a society, to teach you. Feathers and roachs are earned so it may take you time to achieve those. Then you have to have your coming out ceremony/giveaway when your ready. Don't worry you don't have to run across hot coals or nothing. LOL. Except taneezh might have to chase a grease pig.......hee hee.

has someone given you the right to become a grass dancer if so then they will be able to give you all the answers you need.
