Need help with Roach

I recently aquired a roach for my grandson's grass dance regalia and need some advice/help in the best way to attach it to his head. I've seen how some dancers have ties to hold it in place, but I'm not sure how and where to place them. Any suggestions?

I've seen a couple of ways to do it. My son's is attached by a thong sent through the spreader on top and on the bottom by the neck. I tie it all under his chin. I've also seen elastic bands, but I don't know exactly how they are attached. Hope this helps...

If just the single vertical tie does not work, I sometimes have a tie that comes from behind and slightly above my ears that I then secure to the vertical tie to keep it from sliding forward. Also stops side to side movement or from the tail of the roach spinning about.
