Call to Grass Dancers

We are calling upon the grass dancers to prepare the arena for us on Friday evening, June 16, after Gourd Dancing and before Grand Entry...roughly 7:45 p.m., at the Children Of Many Colors Powwow.

Host Southern Drum: Hummingbird Singers
Head Gourd Dancer: Saginaw Grant, Sac and Fox
Head Man Dancer: Sam Bear Paw, Apache
Head Woman Dancer: Thirza Defoe, Ojibwe/Oneida
Emcee: Michael A. Reifel, San Carlos Apache
Arena Director: Victor Chavez, Dine
Special Guests:
Southwest Kwapa Bird Singers and Dancers
Cocopah Tribe, Somerton, Arizona
Alex Ravenfeather and Rob Kwait,
guitar and flute emsemble

To benefit Redbird in the creation of the “Strengthening The Circle” Native American 2006 Scholarship Fund (scholarship application details to be printed in the 2006 powwow program – be sure to pick one up at the powwow!)

Saturday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

All Gourd Dancers Welcome
Tepees and traditional dwellings welcome
Food and craft vendors
Non profit organizations relating to Native American/Environmental issues

$2.00 Donation per Vehicle to benefit Scholarship Fund

Camping availalbe for dancers and vendors.
No drugs, alcohol or firearms. No dogs near arena area or left in vehicles. Redbird, Moorpark College, Ventura County Community College District and its affiliates are not responsible for property loss or theft, or personal injury.
