Bells?

Do many grass dancers use bells? Where I live there arn't many grass dancers who use bells. I myself don't and haven't planed to use bells. But then again there arn't many grass dancers around here

Bells or deer/caribou toes were a requirement if one was to contest, awhile back. Even today, some of the oldtimers will not select a dancer who is missing part of their outfit.

Maybe that's changed.

I was taught that a man should always have proper head gear (roach), foot gear (mocs) and bells.

The louder the bells the better.

No one wants to be a "Tinker Bell".

Well I go to most pow wows held by the cherokee nation and kiwanis clubs in Stilwell. I usuall only see a few other grass dancers and not many have bells. Thats why I was asking cause I wasn't sure if I needed 'em. Thanks.
