I recently made a clth dress for my eldest daughter. She would like me to make a grass dance outfit for her 16 month old son in the same colours. Question; do you think that burgundy and orange pink are OK for as boy colours? Am I old fashion in my way of thinking, that these colours are too feminine for a boy?

I don't think so no. I've seen my fare share of men out there dancing wearing awsome outfits that have pinks and purples etc....Heck a friend of mine has a grass outfit with half pink an some purple in it. That whole blue is for boys and pink is for girls is lame and a white man thing. Color is color no matter on who or what.

Chi-miigwetch to everyone who responded to my question. It was very insightful in helping me decide on staying with the burgundy/pink combination for my grandson's dance regalia.

Actually it really doesn't matter what colors your choose just as long as YOU and YOUR son likes them. Most of my sons regalia is made out of colors that represent our nation, Dine' nation (turquoise, black, white, yellow) then I accent that with some neon colors (green or orange). It just depends on what type of color combinations you want to use or fabrics, etc. I like to use fabrics and designs no one else has ever seen. To keep regalia unique and not fall into the mainstream, use something that will get them noticed. I have now established a 'trademark' design and color in his regalia so it will keep him looking good but unique. Have fun with it :D.

awwwwwwwww shhhhhweeeee :D. Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, he is a very proud boy. I just actually finished 2 brand new regalia's (outfits sound so corny...lol) for him this year and started on a 3rd. Now you know what I do with my time without a man around...ayeeee. LOL. Knowing my son, he'd be happy with a potato sack and some fringe..... He's not the one who's picky, just me. Well have fun and again, thanks....

I think it's fine for now, especially since he's so young. You'll find though that as a child gets older, it's easier to keep them interested in dancing if you let them help in choosing their own regalia colors, and also start teaching them to make their outfits too.
