I know someone who has some great Pow wow tapes. I haven't seen him for awhile, but he captures all the categories...including grass.

The tapes are 2 hours long of str8 pow wow.

Have you talked to anyone that dances grass to maybe help you? Maybe see why they decided to dance grass and why they dance the way they dance. I decided to dance grass probably over two years ago and have yet to complete my outfit and jump out into the arena. Since my descision I have talked with alot of different grass dancers, I've also watched my fare share. But in that time I asked different questions of how they started and why, and where it originated from and who they learned from etc... I hear stuff all the time from people saying that I"m just to scared or that I'll never do it, yet those are the people that jumped out there in the arena as soon as they could and didn't have a clue what they were doing. I chose not to go that route, instead I chose to pay my dues and to learn before I take action. All I know is that you have to learn to crawl before you walk and I would think the same would go for dancing a certain style.

I came to this site over a year ago and asked the same question -----How do I start and what do I need? Who teaches, where do you learn the styles, what about your colors, outfit, beadwork, background and all that jazz.

I would need to agree with Jammer. Take your time. Practice Practice Practice Practice. Got to PW after pW after PW and watch and watch and watch. Get to know the songs and styles. Then think about your outfit!!!!! Think, think, think and go with how you feel about the Dance.

I have been practicing for almost two years and have finally started to make my outfit. Hopefully I can dance at this Christmas Pow-wow coming up.

Hope this helps and I will probably be posting more questions for all the other Grass Dancers.

Later
