scrubs are the best to use in my personal opinion. I actually used scrubs to make an outfit for a cousin of mine all I had to do was get material make the apron matching the rest of the outfit. It was easy. Or I just find a pattern for scrubs and use that as well; and for kids I use pajama patterns. But...in a crunch I would find sweat pants and just use those.

I used scrubs for my hunny's pants. They are fairly light weight material. This makes it easier on the sewing machine, but allows the ribbon work and fringe to go on without too much difficulty. ...just one note, the ones I got him didn't have a hole in the front. You might need to make one.
