Headgear other than roaches

Bozhoo anishinabe!

I was curious if anyone out there wears anything - say like a headdress - other than a head roach while grassing? Myself, I usually wear a hair tie made with maybe three or more ravens worth of feathers bunched together on it. Sorta looks like a fat tail on the back of me melon.

just curious.

*Baseball hats & bandannas dont count for this one.

well personally I think roaches look great on grass dancers as well as most othertypes of dance . but that aside I have a friend that uses somewhat of a bandanawith beaded eye loop things (I use this because I don't know the actual name)but another friend uses a head band . both own roaches but don't wear them exept in competition.

&c and all that it include

never seen any any grass dancers use anything besides a roach,....unless they don't have a full outfit and dont have a roach, so they wear their headbands and a bandana or something

whoanesses i was just wonderin bout that same thing...im a girl and roaches i hear is expensive or ya gotta barter a bunches for it or somethin but i dunno where i would get one an i dont know how ta make one...i've seen this one dood he only had a bandana, neva seen anybody wit a hat, and i mostly just see roaches.

Yup - roaches can seem expensive because they take a lot of time to make. Really though, when you break down the cost of most regalia, most people are barely making $10 an hour. That's darn cheap for the expertise and care that goes into anything worth buying.

To me, the best way to do it is cut a deep discount and have the client bring the supplies and some extra for you. It can be tough appreciatin' $10 when your fingers feel all knotted, but an extra porcupine or two of needles and guard hair can go a long ways towards making i all worthwhile :D

And for the record, yes, I have a roach. I got it for free form the side of the road ;)

depends on who you get to make it the one i got is really nice and i only paid 300 its complete, got the rocker, beaded. i know some of them cost up to $1000 thatz quite tha cash.
