Grass Dance Help

Greetings,
I am trying to put together a cape and apron for a 1 year old.I read some of the posts in your grass forum and they did help but i was wondering the best way to attatch the yarn rope to the apron. Isnt there a way the yarn rope can be attatched to the top of the apron or cape? Also to get the proper thickness how many rows of rope do you use? Do you put the ropes one on top of the other or do you do it in rows like ( lll ) Any help anyone can offer is appreciated. Only my girls have danced previous to this so im a lil lost
Thanks

well i made one for my 1 yr old nephew, and i sewed, the yarn on to the cape. the front had velcore easy on easy off. the fringe had two [||] strings of yarn to one loop[loop over the string] it's not as heavy. bottoms were made the same way. was done with it in 4 hrs. i hope that helps.

Yes that is the best way for a tiny outfit.

I made 2. Here is what I did.

Cut all the yarn to equal lengths by wrapping it around a piece of wood and than cutting a whole bunch.

lay the yard down flat and even on an ironing board or something to iron on.

Put a strip of wonder under at the top of the yard strands and iron it down.

run a line or 2 of stitching down the strip for extra protection.

sew the strip onto the piece of fabric.

cut it to length when done.

worked great. ill try and find a pic of the one i made. it is on my old disk drive.

Thumbs up

Using a exacto knife I made a cut across the fabric making a pocket. I used a thin belt instead of rope only cuz when I wash it I'm able to remove the belt easier. You can try it with your kids cuz as they get bigger you can adjust as needed.

:D

grass dance help

Greetings all,
I want to say thank you for the hints and tips for the little ones grass regalia. Its a great help for me when i start feeling like im not gonna be able to do this. I have to find some wonder under now lol. I was reading that its good to try and make the yarn detatchable from the regalia for purposes of cleaning. Does anyone have any suggestions on that or is it a bad idea.
Thanks again all

the problem with velcro is that it is too stiff. I sew the yarn onto the material.

To wash it I hang it up outside, wet it down. use some woolite on it, rise it out and let it drip dry.
