Question Need advice: Shirt? or Overlay/Cape?

Can't decide which way to go with upper portion of outfit.
- Shirt with ribbons/yarns sewn directly
- Overlay with ribbons/yarns, put on seperately from shirt
- or something different entirely

What'ya have, and why'd ya go with that?

Well, dang.

This thread should have come up last year :p

I don't know too much about making a grass dance outfit, but I did my first one last powwow season for a young boy. And I made it by looking at pictures. I did his shirt with the fringe sewn right on the shirt, turned out nice. And I did gather that the overlay/cape/yoke style was out of style last year as I didn't see many in them pictures.

Thank y'all for confirming my gut feeling. Shirt also seems like it'd be less hot (one less layer of clothing in the hot sun).
