Unhappy dead song

when a song is sung that you just ain't feelin it are you 1 to just kinda walk-dance or do you try and jam any ways. I try and dance but it hard some time to try and fake it. Some times I'll just sort of sneak off but I don't like to because it seems so disrespectful to the drum.

:(

:D

Most of the time I quietly dance slowly off to the side and disappear.

Another time, this one drum group sang the worst song I ever heard. (they were from Pennsylvania and came to this PW in Ontario) I told my buds that I can dance to anything. I got up and started jus givin' er. Everybody was just laughin'. I could only stand a start and a half of that tho'. :D

That is a really funny story. I seen some dancers just straight walk off when a song is sung not real good. I'm not saying I'm all that and even a close to good grass dancer but some times those song can be real bad. Or mabye its the great songs that make the others not seem as good.

Heh. As a dancer, I generally dance my way slowly to the edge and then try to dissapear into the crowd. I usually take the opportunity to relace my bells and adjust this and that.

As a singer, I know sometimes that song can just slip away part way through it. The song just slips away into the air, and it happens more often than you might think-especially on drums full of guys whose brains are still at work ;). When I used to sing on my brother's drum, there were many times where our lead singer would come out jammin-I mean all guns blazin jammin- and we just wouldn't know which song he was freakin' singing. That's a good way to get a dead song too, I think. Too much lead just killed it.

c'est la vie *reties some bells*

Snaggin_NDN is on a distinguished road
There are some groups that do sound terrible but they do try their best and i respect that they are there to sing.
Because they are there to sing, i respect them and the drum so i stay out there in that arbour, other times i just slowly work my way out of the arbour.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But you also have to remember that the singers too have to show respect for their drum, that means staying clean around their drum, and using respectful language there too and that there is always someone who is attending that drum (For sakes its a powwow).

Sometimes i will just walk straight out of that arbour fast and in a mannor that will be noticed. When i do that i am trying to send a message to the singers that they need to show that respect for their drum that is needed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At one of the powwows at my rez, one of our local groups sang at our powwow. When it came time to sing for them in one of the intertribals they started out and were way out of beat and not in harmony, they were not at one with themselves each other and their drum, they had no respect for their drum.
All the dancers ended up walked out of the dancing area, it was an empty arbour.
That group literally got insulted, at their own powwow even.

All you write is true to life about the drum and its singers. Thats why I get out the arbor too because the song is just barely makin it and it hurts my ears. (laughs) but I try to stay in but some times dayumb its just too hard to stay out there. But your words are right snagginndn.

Same here man but when the song is over and a jammin song is sung I'm quick to get out and dance and forget all about the song before.
