That's a goot one

Along that same line, I went to a Comanche dance 7 or 8 years ago where there was a "Best Gourd Dancer" contest. No joke.

I imagined the criteria:

--Highest off the floor?

--Slickest rattle and fan?

--Most times around the arena?

--Most dollars dropped?

Sorry to say it is. A Fort Worth Stockyards dance. You might have heard about the one I'm talking about, but I don't know if it's still being held. You definitely know the family behind the committee.

I stuck around long enough to see if I placed! LOL.

I'd make sure my calves were in shape to lift my heels and body off the ground. Keep my wrist agile for shaking that gourd.

Hey Park that's funny, never got to contest in one when I was Stationed at Ft Sill. How many of the women were Judges?

I get ready by eatting as much Fry Bread, Corn Soup, and Fried Chicken as I can get. I also try to drink as much #### #### as I can the night before.

WhoMe, ...... you ain't right.

But to answer your question, the way I get in shape for gourd dancing, is the same as Bob, I eat all the frybread and fried chicken I can get my hands on, as I try and try to get myself to look as in shape as those drum singers. LOL.

As far as who is my favorite gourd dancer? why...its me!

I think they ought to have a contest where the gourd dancers have to dance toward the drum, and whoever gets too close to the drum, gets eaten by them big boys at the drum. Whoever is the last gourd dancer standing, wins an all expenses paid trip to Gotebo.
