To most folks the Difference is that at a powwow you only have it at a certain time of the day or Morning, When you have it for a Birthday it may just be only Gourd Danceing all day with a few wardance songs in between them or I should say Vetran Songs.

I differ on that...from what I understand and I dont know and understand to much...you dont war dance or anything else during gourd dance....guess the white man term for it is called taboo....you just dont do it.....

Birthday gourd dances are new. They are not an integral part of gourd dance history.
Since the boundaries of this "new addition" to the gourd dance are still being worked out and defined, the sponsor would make the final decisions on how they scheduled their "birthday gourd dance." |
