What Is Your All Time Favorite Pow Wow That You Have Been Too
I don't know if this has been asked or not. I do remember a thread where someone wanted to know about your ideal pow wow. But what is your most favorite pow wow that you have ever attended?
For me, I have been to pow wows from here in Arkansas all the way up to South Dakota there on the Pine Ridge Res. But I remember one pow wow that my family went to back when I was a teen (many many moons ago). We went to this one pow wow in Springfield Missouri. It was a two day pow wow and it was just a friendly gathering. We only had one drum and there was only two drummers. Both of the drummers that we had didn't know anything about starting the songs. They had to use a tape recorder to start the songs with. There was another drummer that came later on in the afternoon. He knew how to drum, drumed for many years BUT he was like the other two, didn't know how to start the songs. It was a pretty good pow wow. I think there were in all maybe 25 to 30 dancers. It was just a small gathering to where we all had a good time just renewing old friendships and making new ones. There is a pow wow that we go to in Kansas that I like too cause at night we have the Stomp Dance. Normally a group from the Choctaw rez from Oklahoma comes up for the pow wow and we have stomp dancing late into the night. Well, thats mine. What is your FAVORITE ALL TIME POW WOW??

Hey Powwowchic, you mentioned the Oneida Nations pow wow, where is that held at? Sounds like it is a good pow wow. There are two pow wows that I really want to attend one of these years and thats the Gathering of Nations pow wow and the Crow Days. I have a friend that belongs to the Crow Nation and she says just the Tipi Row is a site to see at Crow Days.

omg do i ever miss the Turtle! With the Seneca's putting a casino up near there maybe they'll buy it and fix it up and we can jam there again? But honestly gotta say Toronto--there's so damn much to do there. Hell even the people down the lobby seem to be having fun ;P

Smokin Ace. You didn't get a good clear answer about Oneida powwow. It is about 5 to 8 miles from Green Bay Wisc.
It is a good powwow. My favorite was the Mesquakie powwow at Tama, Iowa that was held on Labor day weekend more than a few years ago. Good singing and dancing. Red Bull, Chiniki Lake, MGM and the local drums from Tama. I believe they had 3-4. Hammond was M.C. Second to that was also a few years ago at Green Bay, Wisc. Stoney Park, Eagle Feather, The Boyz, Eyabay. Bunch others! All quality drums. A good time. |

For me there was two pow-wows almost back to back that stand out.
The 1992 Black Lodge pow-wow at White Swan, WA. Besides awesome dancers the drums were aplenty, including: Pigeon Lake, Little Eagle, Smokey Town, Thunder Mountain, White Fish Jr., Indian Nation, Kicking Woman. Best of all, it had a small pow-wow feel. Then there was the 1992 Weasle Tail pow-wow. Even more dancers, and more killer drums like: White Fish Jr, Eyabay, Assiniboine Jr., Nakoda Nation, Indian Nation, White Eagle, Seventeen Mile, Cathedral Lakes, Northern Cree, Black Lodge, Blackstone, Eagle Spirit, Blackfoot Crossing, Makaoo Jr., Ironwater, Thunder Mountain. Unfortunately they have not had either pow-wow since 1992.
