concho belt oops???

ok i finally finshed my concho belt last night. I had used leather lacing to go thru each concho and tried to snug them down to the belt. well..... my belt was a little thick it seems and when I snugged them down good , well I turned the belt over and I had made the centers dimple. what do ya'll think, should I throw these conchos out and buy all new ones and start over? or go with how they look now?

I am not sure I understand. Is it the belt leather that dimpled? If so, just make the holes for the concho lacing a little bigger. Or, if you pulled so hard that you distorted the shape of your conchos when lacing them, that tells me your conchos are very thin and not good quality. In that case, I think you will be happier if you spend a little more and get yourself some heavier german silver or brass conchos. Higher end, custom ones attach with screws. Otherwise, lace the conchos to your belt with heavy wire. Leather thong will eventually break. I've seen it happen more than once. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply!!! You were correct about the actual concho dimpling. Guess I will probably go back and get better ones. I have done conchos with the screw backs before, but those were the smaller decorative western conchos, not these larger 2 1/2 -3" conchos which just have the welded loops on the back. Ya live , ya learn.

Yep, sounds like cheap conchos. Get better ones.
