How to do threadwork for dance fans....

Does anyone know how the threadwork is done for some fans that when done appears very right and flat. It apears to tighter than hand work, some looking like stacked discs of some type. I am thinking maybe done with a lathe? Are there any sites that give infomration about this method?

It's done the same way you wrap fishing rod blanks.

Last month, I went to a free workshop on fly tying at my local library. It was really helpful, so I'd recommend looking around to see if there's any offered in your area.
