Unknown beads need ID

I found these bead in an antique store and am trying to find out what they are. The small ones I know are cheap, they were $4 per strand, but I liked these 2 strands.

The big ones were just pretty neat. you can see the size of them next to a cassette tape (if you know what a cassette tape is!!!)
Unknwon beads

They look like African trade beads of some flavor. Check out Picard Beads and their publications.

Could also be really old venetian or czech "eye" beads. But I don't know about the colors

The larger ones look like Nigerian trade beads.

I could not blow up the picture since I am one of those rare human beings who is not signed up with MySpace. Anyhow, if your beads are made from powdered glass, then I would guess them to be from Africa since that is a common technique over there. The glass often comes from recyled materials like crushed soda bottles and whatnot.
