In need of a baby mocc pattern
Hey yall. I have a pair of baby moccs that are straight up haunting me. I've already drawn them out... but what I need to know is...... does anybody have a pattern? (Because I have no idea how to get the measurements right)
She's 7 months old and in a size 3/4 (not walking yet). Um... HELP.

well i do have a pattern .... but i dont know where it is LOL. i havnt made baby moccs for years LOL
but ya .... what i have done in the past is ... trace one of their shoes (most of their shoes are soft soled and do well as patterns). always best to go a size or two bigger than what they are .... so they wont be wearing them for like a week or month. also, measure the top of their foot (not sure what its called but the area where you would tie the bow when you're tying shoelaces) and add enough for a seam allowance and growth. this is to ensure that their foot will actually fit into the mocc without any forcing LOL. once ya got that sole pattern cut out (i usually fold it in half width wise and half lengthwise .. jus so you know where the middle is and its centered) ... place it on a piece of paper (i also usually mark a straight line on the piece of paper jus to make sure that the top part of the mocc patteren is centered also). then using a pencil trace the top of the pattern of the mocc. making sure you use the measurement you took of the top part of their foot, to make sure the mocc will be wide enough for their foot and leaving enough for a seam allowance. once you have your paper pattern ... jus flip it over to get the left and right ... you should be good to go.

Try a pattern for Childern's and infants Moccasin Pattern by "Eagle View Patterns".
You can find them on-line and are very complete and detailed. They also have a great women's hi-top pattern that is super for Plateau hi-tops and can be easily converted for southern women's boots. |

*L^^^
I make mocs for my family but I don't have a generic pattern. I trace the foot and go from there, usually if I'm beading the mocs then I make them a little bigger so the person doesn't out grow the mocs before I'm done beading/making them. Sometimes I have to sew plain buckskin mocs for people that I don't know so I ask for the shoe size and you can find a foot size chart online. I keep a copy of that chart in my kit for sewing buckskin. |

Those ARE cute!
I'm with Kakeeya. I just trace a foot and go from there. I think I even posted pics on a thread somewhere. However, I must have saved the pattern from the last ones I made cuz I needed to make some for someone in the Army and used that pattern. I would make them a size 5. And when babies are beginning to walk, moccasins are the best things for them to wear.

Awwwww those are cute!!!
How do you make the uppers? I can bead them but how do you "make" them when using a foot tracing? Lil mama has some wide dogs so I wanna make sure they're plenty big enough lol. Thanks for the advice! Keep it coming! If I can get em done after the summer session and before the fall semester starts I'll post some pics!

Missouri River has a pattern.
Matoska Trading Company - Native American Books In my experience, the adult pattern requires adjustment for good fit and I just use a foot tracing. However, I have used the kiddy pattern when I didn't have the kid handy and it works OK. |

You mean the moccasin style? That's not white, that's a typical eastern woodland center seam typically used by like the lenape, micmaq, abenaki, mohawks... But that makes sense why they would have that since they sell patterns for reinactors.
