Bad trading Posts
I have ordered many a times from Crazy crow trading post and have received many a bad kits, bad hides and feathers. They are cheap but you end up paying in the end. When you call to make a complaint the manager there more less says you are just out of luck you still have to pay for the reshipping of the replaced item. any other complaints that people would like to share so we know who and what to look out for. Maybe if theres enough complaints the store owners will see and make quality checks on their merchandise more often. Its impossible to talk to the owners and send letters, before they are intercepted.

I am not defending Crazy Crow, but it is not uncommon for any mail order business to make you pay to send something back unless it is defective or the order is wrong on their part. I have done it with Crazy Crow and others. It's just how the business is.
Let's face it, craft goods in general were never meant to be mail ordered. For may items, you HAVE to see it in person to know if it is what you want. I have ordered beads, hides, and feathers before and have recieved good and bad lots. I think it is just something to expect. Samples are a good idea. Perhaps this is the place to ask others what certain products are like from various mail order outlets. A negative or positive review of an items will cerainly affect one's decisions to purchas that item. |

it is kinda hard to order things ... thru the mail. without actually seeing it and touching it - you dont really know what you're getting. especially when you live no where near any sort of supply store of any kind. and that would be me!!!
i've never bought anything strictly through the mail .... well i bought some plumes from walela LOL (real cho btw). there was this store in Westaskiwin AB that since went out of business .... BOO HOO!! i used to go into the store and more or less remember what i wanted and order it over the phone. or they would remember what i bought ... and jus send some more LOL. my mother used to order hide and beads from Halford Hide in Edmonton AB ... she never had any major complaints.

I agree with WocusWomen go somewhere else. I've ordered from them a couple of times and never even got my order. I don't know if they just didn't get the form or what but I find it hard to believe that would happen more than once.

I have bought from Crazy Crow a few times but only beads and a few other things
The beads have been hit or miss sometimes they are what they say they are and other times they seemed to be missed marked When I moved back to Oklahoma I am able to hit a few stores around here that still sells crafts I have to hit Powwows to get some others things I need, alot of powwows around here sell raw goods. IICOT in Aug has the most traders per floor space and its indoors so Airconditioned!!! Hides are another thing I have bought a few from Moscow Fur and Hide and had no problems They are reasonably priced, However the best is to get them from somebody that knows what they are doing and has the time and energy to do it

Well i misunderstood the poll. I was trying to get people favorite place to order to get a certain items. Need to have a listing to get items/ good lots from favorite traders. We all buy in bulk when it comes to making and repairing our dance outfits. So as a fellow commrads it'll be good to share this information and let the business see all comments on this site so they can get it together and do some quality control. Owners many not even know with how mangers are handling the companies orders. |

braintan.com is a great place for hides, Moscow Hide and Fur are good too.
For beads I like Shipwreck. Most of Crazy Crow's beads are alright, it just depends on what you like. For the beads that I use, Shipwerck does me just fine and has good prices if you buy in bulk. I don't know about feathers. I used to get them from Supernaw's in Skiatook, OK, he hand dyed his own hackles and they were always great. Haven't been back there in several years so I have no idea what he is up to. Crazy Crow is a huge outfit, much larger than any other trading post with this type of stuff. A lot of other vendors get their stock from Crazy Crow. A lot of the materials that are imported come from them as they have the means to acquire them. I went to their warehouse once, it was huge. Most other places operate out of a garage or storefront. |

I am not going to defend one company over another, but I have had pretty good luck with my purchases from Crazy Crow, as well as other mail order supply companies. I have taken to buying beads in person because I am trying to match colors, and I would recommend the same thing with hides. Crazy Crow is able to get me what I need pretty quick. Just my $0.02.
