Research on southern dusters

In doing some research on duster construction,a came up.How do you do the fringe on the the top in-step of the mocc?Especially when there is beadwork?I had heard that on some older styles that the beadwork was done seperate then added to the top of the mocc.Can you apply the hide for the fringe under that seperate beadwork piece?..........any info would be great,thanks-M.

Try beading before you sew the mocs. This is what aunt pollie did.
