OK so. Question on double beats. Sorry questions. Anyway.
I know there are double beat crow hops (Still not sure how they are different from a regular crow hop, or if all I've heard were double beat or all I've heard were single beat, anyway I'm a bit confused on the crow hop subject, so if anyone wants to enlighten me I'd appreciate it.) But are there double beats for other songs? Like I noticed in the other thread they talked about how it looked like "slide step" and every one said it sounded like a double beat. Anyway I just wanted to know so I wasn't throughly confused, though I think I'm more confused now then when I started writing this. May the Beads be with you Hoopster

I've only seen the double beat in Crow Creek South Dakota and the year 2002 was the first time that it was danced there. Since you're in New York, I really don't think you'll need to worry about it unless you plan on going to powwows in Montana.

I am far from the guru on double beats, but just from my own observations, the double beats are exactly that, they have a very different beat from the regular crow hop songs. Might want to try to find some songs on the internet and see if you can get an example of the double beats.
Hmmmmmm, double beats are quite popular out here in the West, they are a pretty standard song for contesting. Heck, I have even seen jinglers been given a double beat for contesting this year! But I think that the "sidestep" comment was probably just by mistake. They have a slightly similar beat, but there is a difference. Might wanna ask in the singing section of pw.com and ask the singers what precisely the difference is. They will be able to give you a much better explanation than my layman's terms *haha* R. |

Ok I'm confused......I thought double beat was danced somewhat similar to the single beat crow hop......but then others are saying you dance with your shawl on your arm and it is similar to a side step. So, how do you dance to this??
