Hey grrrls, got a question for ya.
How do you feel about this new trend that seems to be emerging with girls showing so much leg when they dance fancy shawl? I remember it used to be unexceptable to show skin above your knee, but now days you can see some girls entire leg, crotch to cuff!! What do youns think?

I absolutely hate seeing this. I love those skirts that flare out when you turn, but when you can see a woman's thighs and her spandex, then thats waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much skin.
Personally, when I make my niece's outfits (she's only 7, but still) I always make like an underskirt for it, so when the skirt flares, her legs arent showing, but covered by an underskirt (sewn together with the main part of the skirt). I think this is just so much classier and teaches her that its unladylike to be showing skin. R. |

I hate seeing this too. There's this one girl who intentionally makes her skirts too short. The skirt is above the top of her leggings and it looks like she grew out of her skirt years ago. Maybe they think it will help them win.

I really dislike this. I was taught that it is disrespectful to show skin. What makes it okay to show while you are dancing. I think that is twice as bad. I guess there is nothing we can really do but make sure we go by what we say.

It's kind of funny. Beacuse if you think about it, some of those big names that talk about how they are sooo traditional and espectable are the main ones to show legs.
I am not saying they aren't nice, I'm just saying that they show alot of legs. Ex: the new skirt style of it being long on the sides and cutting up high in front. Myself, I don't like to show more than the top of my knees but then again that's just me!

i agree lets not see any leg
but what about those dancers who decide to take off their regalia when they get hot or whatever, and all they have underneath are some shorts and a halter, then decide to go back in the circle and dance? even little girls. intertribal is one thing but... |

shirts
What's too short for sleeves for your top? I wear long sleeves with cuffs but I see some girls wear short sleeves. Some of these are the kind that are tight, very short sleeves...not sleeveless, but very close. I was always told that showing too much of your arms was also inappropriate. I would not consider wearing a shirt with sleeves above my elbows. Any opinions?
