There are many ways to make a cap & apron. But 1st, the design/s involved will effect the shape of the yolk and apron.
Then, are you gonna bead it, ribbionwork it or other. That will determine your next step.
Does your friend already have the design planned out? If not, ya gotta start there. Length of and shape of the apron, how wide, etc.
Side tabs should be tought about here as well even if your not ready to make 'em yet. Your friend waist size will have an effect on the wide of all these.
