POINTS SHOULD NEVER BE A REASON TO DANCE- IF YOU DANCE FOR PONTS- THAT IS WHAT YOU GET- NOT THE JOY OF THE DANCE OR THE HAPPINESS THAT YOUR DANCE BRINGS TO OTHERS-- IE: NAVAJO SAYS- IF YOU DANCE FOR POINTS AND MONEY CREATOR WILL NOT LET YOU WIN- DANCE IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO OFFER A GIFT TO OTHERS.

I'm not against contest dancing either. But I don't think contests should be the sole reason for dancing. I really enjoy exhibition dancing. Not only for fancy dancers, but watching all categories. It really gives dancers a chance to show what they have with no contest pressure.
On the other hand, for those who travel, pow wows get very expensive. Contest and day money definitely helps with the cost. It's always interesting to hear people's views on this topic. Especially given the current trends in outfits for many dance styles, including fancy. As mentioned in the straight dance and traditional dance topics, outfits today are changing rapidly due to the popularity of contest dancing. Just my thoughts. Brad |
