Mmmm... Tales from the Crypt.

Now there is a book that was not authorized by the comic code. And it was so good, thought provoking and twisted. There is a reason why they didnt want kids readin this stuff.

I believe it. That was a twisted show. Isn't the same company who made the Creepshow Comic the same who published Tales From the Crypt? Same looking art at least.

I am not sure about the Creepshow Comic. I know there were three books based from the same company: Tales from the Crypt, the Vault of Horror, and the third one I cant remember but I know for a fact it had the work Terror in the title.

Wink James don't jive man!

I never got into any of those kinds of books. I didn't like the art nor the writing.

The only horror book I remotely got into was the "Night Breed" comic book. Printed in Canada cuz well, that's where the flick was filmed and stuff. Good ole David Cronenburg. What a guy! He also directed the movie eXistanZ. That was another wonderfully original film. Screw all those sugar coated p#ssy gamer films!

But the comic was hard to come by, but of course sometimes the most obscure books are quite rare.

And of course Mr. J O'Barr's graphic novel The Crow. And as we all know went on to become a 90's cult classic. In my elitist opinion the rest of the Crow films sucked balls!!!

So anyhoo;

Just an FYI. There are now Dragon Lance Chronicles out as well as Dark Elf Trilogy and Icewind Dale Trilogy graphic novels out. They came out in 2005. Devils Due publishes them. And for any of you kind folk out there don't know who those cats are, well they also publish GI Joe and some other groovy titles.

One might say, well how come Oneida Dreamer doesn't put this up on the RPG thread??? HUH? Well dis B da Komic book thread yo so dats why holms.

I know you said not just Marvel, but there was a point in time where I read the Avengers pretty consistently. This goes back as far as the first disbanding of the Avengers in the late 1970s. My favorites there were Thor and Iron Man. I see that they've brought this comic back starting in March of this year, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Now that I have kids (all girls by the way)... they've really picked up on the Spider-Man comics. The newspaper here released a series of like 20+ issues that were sent out with the Sunday paper, and we read and saved about all of them. I know he's pretty mainstream, but I guess he's kind of an easy character to relate to. Kind of a regular guy with everyday struggles of trying to pay his bills, win the girl of his dreams and yet live up to the "with great power comes great responsibility" ideal and his guilt over the death of good ol' Uncle Ben.

As far as other titles go, I've read everything from Archie and Veronica to the Fantastic Four and X-Men, not forgetting the original comic book tie-in to the Star Wars series. Some cool storylines there.

Right now, though, I'm trying to work through a series that one of my people drew. It's called "Chickasaw Adventures" and it's about a Chickasaw boy who is magically transported back through time and relives key events in Chickasaw history. The artwork is very nicely done, and it's great to see our history presented in such a unique way. You can check that out at:

Talking

I started off collecting Terminator from NOW Publishing. That was back in 1987. I picked up comics now and again when I was smaller, but Terminator was my first Love.

It had a neat story and cool characters. Now's crowning Terminator Achievement was a Five Part Mini-Series called "Burning Earth". It frickin rocked man! Plus they got some really good artists/inkers and some other good staff to create it. Great Storyline, then shortly thereafter they had two more issues then petered out.

Then Dark Horse got a hold of the rights! Wooooo Hooo! Then from there I branched out to some Aliens and Predator and Aliens vs. Predator! Oh yeah baby, nothing like black and white quasi indie books! Then they got color, but I never managed to pick up the first Aliens run. That was completely Blk/Wht.

I got into Wolverine in 6th grade. Otherwise I was strictly Aliens, Predator, Terminator and Aliens vs. Predator. I was a lil ole dark horse boy!

But I'll never forget my brother Joppe. He gave me a rugged Wolverine issue 22, where Wolvie fights "The Spore" and teams up with Bandilera some Puerto Rican broad that shot energy bolts out of a plain staff. Well anyway, I was hooked from then on, that was my intro into the whole Marvel Universe. Been a fan of Wolvie ever since. He's my guy. There is none higher.

I am the proud owner of Wolverine issues 1-110 of the original run. Cuz there have been two or 3 subsequent runs since. No I don't own The Wolverine/Shadowcat nor the first 1-4 Wolverine runs. All in due time my friends.

I also got into both X-Men core books. Uncanny and X-Men. Many cross overs of course and annuals galore. But I stopped collecting Wolverine in 96. Marvel was going through some growing pains back in the day and Wolverine's art and storyline sucked.

My brother Adam was always into The Avengers. I got into The New Avengers a few years back. That book rocked. My fav Avenger is Spiderwoman. Acts of Vengance was a great X-Over. All those Villians and different Heroes fighting one another, the whole Mandarin rings of power plot. I of course only read Uncanny X-Men 256-258. The one's with Wolvie/Psylocke and Mandarin. Psylocke is my favorite X-Woman hands down, by far!

I really dug the Spiderman "Torment" run with Kraven and The Lizard. Good stuff. I never tried to get all friggn 8 or whatever different Ltd covers. I just wanted my book so I could read it.

I also really dug The Infinity Gauntlet. That was the one where Thanos got all the Infinity Gems and well did his evil thang. Killed a whole lot of heroes and all kinds of things evil megalomaniacs do.

Plus being in like 9th grade or middle school, hell at my height of collecting I was bringing home 15 titles and Dragon Magazine. Plus keeping current with D&D source books and novels. As well as Rifts books.

I really got into DC's Batman "Venom" run for a bit. That was a cool run. The only other DC book I got into was that crazy 90's "Zero Hour" book. That book kicked so much @ss!. I recommend
this book highly. Specially if you want to see some of those goodie to shoo Justice Leaguers get their @ssses handed to them. It's out in Graphic Novel form and should be able to be found at Borders or Barne's & Nobel.

and then I got into Stormwatch and Brigade and Blood Strike from then Extreme Studios and Image Studios. I never got into The MAXX.

So yeah. I love me some comic books ya'll!!!

You ever play Alien vs. Predator on any of the machines out there? I used to have an Atari Jaguar, and had that game. For its time the graphics were cutting edge. You could play either the Marine, Alien or the Predator, the latter being the most fun, because you had ALL of the ablilities, ALL of the weapons. From the fist claws to the razor frisbie to the shoulder mounted plasma cannon. Then you could turn invisable (the alien would still see you) and you had all the different visual modes, infarred, ultraviolet and 3-4 others. In the end you fight the alien queen. The game ROCKED!

I put around 5$ in it back in the day at our mall. I always took the Predator.

I really dug The Avengers coin op. It was mad fun. I like when your character died. They were like " I Can't Move " all loud and stuff and cheesy. lol

I always liked the name Jughead.
