I was such a sucker for good advertising by DC and Marvel.
Yes, I got sucked into the Death of Superman, as well as Funeral For a Friend, and the Supermen War and Return of Superman. A few months after the last one ended I got sucked into the Hunter/Prey story. Marvel always got me with the stories about the Infinity Gauntlet, then after that stories about Thanos. Then I got hooked on the Age of Apocolypse storyline.

I"ve always loved X-Men, both teams. But my absolute fav is Heavy Metal Magazine. I just love the sexual erotic overtones and the art is phenominal! The thick luscious ladies in there always turn me on!

i was responding to NorthofIda's quote:"I know you said not just Marvel, but there was a point in time where I read the Avengers pretty consistently. This goes back as far as the first disbanding of the Avengers in the late 1970s. My favorites there were Thor and Iron Man."

Since I have little by way of fundage; I'm just going to re-read some of my old books. I think I'll go with the Age of Apocalypse. That was such a killer run back in the 90's!
Happy Reading All! Peace OD ![]() I LOVE YOU MIGIZIKWE

i grew up on mostly DC comics. (teen titans, JLA, batman)
in college i discovered "underground" comics: robert crumb, roberta gregory, art spegielman, trina robbins and so many more who would write, draw and publish the whole book . i think my all time favorite book was "love & rockets" by the hernandez brothers. I still read the occasional issue. frank miller books are good. the watchmen by alan moore was good ... alan moore did V for vendetta.... thats all i can think of right now.

I used to like the Conan the Barbarian Comics, you remember they were the size of magazines with the kick @zz borris art on the cover. Talk about sexual undertones!!! LOL
another one of my fav was Lobo, anyone remember the Christmas issue from around 91? LBW I still see the Archie books from time to time in the check out lines of Wal-Mart or the grocery store

I had a sweet spider-man and wolverine collection, but I threw them out when I went away to college...I kind of want them back now.

OMG! I didn't know there was a comic book thread here! I've been collecting comical books for over thirty years. I pretty much started with Giant-Size X-Men #1 and went from there. I have some old FF's with Doctor Doom as well, and all the Wolverine books with Nightcrawler in them.
Is anyone else a Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler fan? As for Archie, they still make them. I liked Reggie. Last edited by neling4; 07-14-2008 at 09:59 PM.. |
