This thread is for the discussion of Role Playing Games. I'm talkin about Pen and Paper and Dice.
Games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Rifts, Exalted, any Palladium title, Werewolf, Vampire etc... So I'll start by saying: I've been a huge gamer dork since I was a short round. I have been gamming for around twenty years now. I started out playing Dungeons & Dragons with my cousins, then later on with my Pastor during middle and high school. Yep that's right MY PASTOR!!! You heard me. And I branched out to Rifts in 1990, the year it hit the shelves. I've played Robotech and Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangenesses since middle school too. Role playing games have played a huge role in my life. And I know it has played a role in a lot of yours too. That's all I have to say for now. Miigwech Happy Gammin!

Boozhoo niji,
LMAO @ dork closet. Yeah I cant hide, I ran the largest LARP Werewolf/Vampire game in central Florida. On our best night we had around 70 players. Yeah, try and get that at gen con or where ever! Oh yeah, I never been to one of those, gaming conventions, too far for me to go at the time. Now pow wows on the other hand, I will go 1800 to get there, lol. Derek |

I play a MMOG called Toontown - I guess you could call it role-playing.
http://play.toontown.com/webHome.php You get to be a cartoon character (you pick the color, type of animal, clothing, etc.) and you go around fighting Cogs, big robot things. You defeat them by throwing cream pies at them, squirting them with squirt guns, etc. You get the idea - the kind of thing for a big overgrown kid like me. My oldest daughter got me started playing WAYYYYY back, like when she was 3, and we've been playing ever since. (She's 9 now). Kind of a good break, but probably not so intellectually challenging as D&D or others of that kind. I played D&D back in high school/early college, but haven't even thought about it for a long time until Oneida Dreamer made the post. I don't know about being a Dork, but I'm pretty sure I fit the Geek mold back in the day. ![]() You mentioned vampires, Crazywolf, and that reminds me about the show on TV last night, maybe on National Geographic Channel(?), but not totally sure - about real-life vampires. VERY INTERESTING>>>> ![]() |

Right on North of Ada! You're playing an RPG. Just cuz it's not nearly as sophisticated and rules heavy as D&D or some other systems; doesn't make it any less cool or fun to play.
Any role playing is right on in my book. Course I never LARP'ed before. A.K.A. Live Action Role Playing. That would push my Geek/Dorkometer off the scale! Aye!!! Yeah I was referring to you Derek!!!! LOL

I never played Car Wars. I saw it on the shelves of my Comic Book/RPG store, but never had the pleasure of running nor playing it. It always looked cool though. I friggn loved Mad Max man!!!
I did think up a game called "Advanced Barns & Chicken Koops" With some of my old skool friends. I based it off a cartoon I saw in the pages of Dragon Magazine back in the Mid-90's. In the cartoon there was a knight, dragon, dwarf, elf and a orc sitting around a table playing "Lawyers and Lawsuits". Friggn funny man, just damn hilarious! Well to us dorks anyways...

So, Oneida, which RPG are you playing the most these days, and what can you tell us about your alter-ego, in terms of description, special powers/abilities, etc.?
When I'm on Toontown I'm a toon named Von Ocotoroni. Here's a pic of me in my snazzy estate, furnished with the best Native furnishings that Disney animation can provide, LOL. I have several gag tracks - throwing pies and cupcakes, squirting with a firehose, squirtgun and flower, toon-up, which heals toons in battle by blowing kisses, dancing or telling jokes, and drop, which is when you drop anything from a flowerpot to an oceanliner on your opponent's head. Your ability is measured by laff points, which you earn by defeating Cogs, robotlike opponents, or doing other tasks. I have 57 laff points, the max is 129. It takes a while to get there, though. I let my 9-year-old take over the first toon I created, a horse named Queen Fireball Megatooth, and after 5 years(?) of active play she's up to 108 laff points. It's a great game, even for grownups, and for those of you with kids, it's a very safe environment as open chats do not exist between strangers, only those you know outside the game that you've exchanged special codes with. BTW, OneidaDreamer, I was meaning to tell you a long time ago that that's a cool avatar. Didn't know Yoda was an Indian. Is that a northern tradish outfit he's got there? Oneida and I share one thing is common in the reason why neither of us play RPG currently. There are these little things that you have to aqquire as a prerequisit to playing the game. They are these little round things called tuits. When you get a round tuit you can play. LOL. Seriously I am too busy to play anymore, I can imagine Oneida is as well with his schedule. If I were to start playing again today, it would probably be Werewolf the Apocalypse, cause its what I c |
