Dear Folks.....After 2 years of work my new beadwork book,"Beading in the Native American Tradition" is now available on amazon books. I have seen an advance copy and it looks like a really good book. Thanks for checking out. I appreciate your support!!!

Thanks for letting us know about your book. Maybe I'll see it at the next Intergalactic Bead Show in two weeks(Fairfield, Oh, Tori's Station....June 15th &16th). www.beadshows.com It's supposed to be one of the largest bead shows of the year in this area. One of the vendors, at the last show I went to in February, had a book of yours (one with a picture of the fan with flowers and a bee beaded on it).
Is this just a basic book, or do you have things for advanced beaders in it? |

Dear Folks.........This book is designed as a craft / coffee table book with over 120 color pictures. There are 180 patterns and the book covers materials, tools, historic background on each stitch, lane stitch, applique, loom, heddle loom, embossed stitch, side stitch, gourd stitich, brickwork, wrapped stitch and a special section of beaded edges. The photos are from contemporary beadwork to historic work in the Charles Eagle Plume collection. In each area I have tried to a historic background of how the stitch was probably developed up to it's current use. It is 160 pages in a large format.

Got my copy and must say that it does look good. Glad to see that you are not using the term "lazy stitch". The pictures are great.
The first major picture of the blanket strip though could have been labled as a Sioux beaded style and not Crow. It has very typical Sioux design and technique. Most Crow or Nez Perce Blanket strips are two needles, very flat and of more geometric design. At least there are no staples in the middle of the pictures. The layout is very good. Writing a book is a very difficult item to do. I would highly recomend your book to others. In fact, other than Georg Barths' book, they are the only two I would recomend. tipis |

Thanks for your good words and support!! The book is doing very well. Look forward to seeing how it is accepted in the Powwow world as it is published by a company that usually pubishes for the contemprary bead market.
