there's another type of material that you can use to do beadwork on and it's called duck cloth. it's a light weight canvas type of material and you can get it at any fabric store. this is the material that i use and all you have to do after you are done with the beading is put you backing material on it and your done. it holds up nicely.

I'm not here to endorse E-bay or Deans Pawn Shop, but there is a pair of beaded side tabs for auction right now. It has beaded tabs and a concho belt with a tipi design that looks painted. The design looks familiar to me like I might have seen it on a picture of a dancer in a magazine or at a dance.
