Scared of Comp land
So, tomorrow I'm leaving to go up to Atmore (Alabama). It's a big time compition powwow. I'm scared to death to even dance intertibals around those people.
Forreals. My regalia isn't fancy and I don't know. I'm a bit of a chicken.

It's not as big time as you might think, but it's a good lil pow-wow anyway. Just go and have fun. The people there are nice and friendly, and the pow-wow committee members seem to do a good job. Who knows...you might even get to meet the current Miss Indian World.

Just go out there, have fun and dance your dance. My first (and so far only) comps have been at big powwows with lots of dancers and lots of champs. It was a bit intimidating, but everybody I talked to was nice. There were folks with "fancier" regalia, but you know you have to be proud of who you are.
Have a good time, dance for the joy of it, and just remember that it does get easier each time you do a big comp!

Thanks for all the help you guys. It means a lot but, looks like my father isn't going to let me go. The normal getting me excited and letting me down thing. It's cool. No big. I keep all this in mind though for when I do get to go to a comp powwow. Most of my powwows aren't comp powwows because they don't want to seem too comercial. Anywho, this should all help for the future. Thanks again!
