I am the mother of four girls (yes, all girls) ages 15,13,8, and my baby is 6. I work at an indian boarding school in Oklahoma. I really love my job, the kids are great. I have learned so much from them this year. My two oldest girls are into basketball, softball and cheerleading. Hoping to make enough money this summer to be able to send them to some good camps.
I have been married 18 (sometimes very long) years. LOL I am a Ponca and Sac&Fox and have been dancing since I can remember.
I dance Southern Cloth and I really enjoy dancing and competing. I have traveled just about everywhere and really enjoy Montana and Minnesota. My family has been powwowing for over 50 years. My grandparents on both sides were pow wow people as well as Native American Church. I cannot sew, either, though my mom and grandma are excellent seamstresses. My grandmother, Mabel Harris, had her ribbonwork viewed in the NYC fashion shows, as well as in Vogue,Mademoiselle. Maybe I will learn, I can, I just prefer my mom to do it. I can bead and my husband does artwork as well as featherwork. We are a young couple trying to maintain our culture and teach our girls their place in this world. I am fortunate that my kids were given their Indian Names and clans and follow those traditions pretty close. I have never been to Cherokee and am coming for the 4th. I am very excited about that pow wow.

I'm not going to get into this girl talk, just wondering. Hey State your Dad isn't by chance Henry Harris is it? I think he is a great singer if he is. Good to meet you. He used to come to Lawton, OK for an Apache formal dance. I used to dance the tail dance with the Ponca guest. ( I was not a tail dancer for any of these though) only a guest. Would you all be able to come and dance in Sedalia, MO? I may know who you are. Hope to meet your family someday.

STATE, I grew up watching you dance!! You were(are) my idle and continue to enjoy watching you dance!! I have talked to you a couple of times here and there. You always ask why I wasn't dancing!!!

I like to dance but have to admit that I haven't dance in about a year and half now. I have several reasons for that. I like to do beadwork and sew (I have been doing both since I was like 14). I work for my tribe's security department as a dispatcher. I was in school but took couple semester off but I'm heading back!! I'm studying social work. I have been powwowing since I was small. I like to watch movies, sports, sing(pow-wow), and watch pow-wow tapes. I like to hang out with my friends and my sister's kids, since I don's have any of my own. I had a husband but don't want to get into that story!!! I like to travel, and hopefully one day I will be able to just take off and enjoy our country!!!! I like to attend my tribe's stomp dances. Miss all the good food up there!!

My parents are Ronnie and Almeta Harris. I had an uncle , Harrison Hunter, who traveled the circuit and was an excellent singer ( an original Rose Hill). Due to my job and going back to school this summer, I have to really plan my trips. Let me know what all is going on in Missouri and I would like to take a trip. I guess I am getting to the age where younger dancers can remember me from when they were growing up! LOL I encourage all young ladies to dance and participate in the pow wow arena. It has truly blessed me and my family for many years. You will make acquaintances and friendships that will last a lifetime. I try to help my daughters to have the best of both worlds, excelling in academics as well as being who they are in their culture. I am interested in knowing all the other Cloth dancers that visit this board. I like to read about the different tribes, their dresses, the pow wows that are going on, etc. Keep it up cloth Ladies! Sandy

Been a long time since I've been on here....I dance Southern Cloth, I am almost finished with nursing school so that's why I don't get to check it out too much anymore. I haven't really travelled all that far, I enjoy Minnesota and just took my first trip to the Gathering this year, but didn't dance. I think that my first love is singing....it's just so much fun. I live in Oklahoma....with my husband and my two dogs. Maximus and Lily. Someday I'll hit the powwow trail again...just not this year. My mom sews for STATE sometimes, and all the time for me. I'll be head Lady Dancer at Otoe Powwow this year.....and that's about it

I am a cloth dancer. I am a mother of three wonderful children whom I try to teach all the ways of our tribal traditions! I love to bead and sew regalia. My husband doesn't dance but without him, my pow-wow trips would be hectic! He makes sure that everything is packed and a counted for! Even dwnsouthndn! :p I think he put her in the trunk by mistake once or twice!! :Chatter I will be graduating in July with a degree in Social Work! I believe strongly in my traditional ways but I also feel that one must get an education in order to understand todays society! I love to dance and sing! I especially enjoy stomp dances but I haven't been to one in a while do to the fact that I have been in school. after graduation, let the stomp dancing begin!! :Chatter It's hard for me to attend a lot of pow-wows due to my job and school but where there is a will.....There is a way!! ;)

I am a mother of two daughters. The oldest is 24 today, (happy birthday baby :) ) and is married and the mother of my pride and joy!
The youngest is 17 will be 18 in Aug. . She comes on the board NDN Princess 2001. She is homeschooled and in her last year. I had her dancing 9 mos. before she was born! (I didn't know it at the time though..hehehe) She is my powwow road trip buddy.
I met my hubby when I was 14. Got married at 17. And had my oldest at 24. I have been married for 31yrs in July.
I dance cloth. Hubby dances gourd. Daughter jingle and fancy.
I like to bead and sew. I love humor.

Powwows and ceremonies are not a hobby or an interest for us, they are a way of life.

My hubby and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary this summer, gonna head to Fla! I have 2 kids, a girl 24, who is getting married this summer. (she met her fiance at a powwow!)Shes a jingler and fancy dancer. My son is 18, almost 19 and getting ready to graduate high school. He is in the army reserve and getting ready to go do more training. My hubby and I try to get to as many dances as we can, but havent been as much lately, as we are redoing a house. I dance southern cloth. One of my favorite dances is Delaware homecoming, cause its great people out there, and they have way cool stomp dancing!
