I am making a shawl for my niece to honor her father who was just given newss that he is being sent to Kuwait on February 16th,2007. He was due to retire the end of february in 2007. SO I want to make her a special shawl to honor him to hopefully help her feel close to him while he is away.
I will be using a royal blue gaberdine and was thinking of using red and white fringe and putting the Naval Emblem on it to honor her dad. I have the fabric for the shawl but no fringe left of any color so and suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all you have quite a heart, always thinking of others, I think any color would be nice with navy blue, but what comes to mind when I think about it is, white, navy, gold or yellow gold, I would just use colors that are in the emblem. I have a shawl that was made for me that I gourd with Its half red half navy. running down the middle is the Desert storm ribbon , done with ribons and where the ribon ends on the bottom is the fringe done in the colrs looking as if the ribon is coming on down threw the fringe , its really pretty, It was a gift to me to wear to honor my Husbands time while he was overseas.
