And i did not grow up pwing, i grew up in GA. never been to a pw till i was 20. And i'm enrolled in the eastern band in Cherokee, NC where i now reside.

Like i said before, we use the basic pattern for tear dresses and adjust from there, long sleeves, mid sleeves, all long skirts adn ruffled.

Yeah, I feel ya. I am trying my best to do all my sewing, but it's really hard for me...so I always end up getting stuck and getting someone to help me out. Mom didn't teach me growing up. I would really appreciate some pictures. rvnmad@hotmail.com. I'll post a pic of mine when I get it done.

I have seen solid color tear dresss to. Also prints that are not exactly calico (don't know how to discribe them) What kind of cloth/print is acceptable for a tear dress? By the way Waleli beautiful pictures thanks for posting.

I was always told you may use ANY material you want for your dress - calicos, solids, prints...
I saw a tear dress made from an all-over USA flag print material , I think she was a Miss Indian USA or someone who had that one. Been several years ago.
