Smile need help with questions

Hello everyone! I'm new to both powwows.com and powwows in general. I'm happy that there's a place where newcomers can go to learn more about powwows. Here are the questions I need help with. Is it OK to add long ribbon fringe to a cloth dress like you would to a buckskin dress? And on a cloth round dance competition song are you suppose to bend at the waist after the honor beats like you would on a regular competition song? I reall would appreciate it if someone could help me out. Thanks! :rainbw:

Are you talking about the type of dress that is Northern Applique? I have seen ribbon on those before. It is alot lighter weight and blows around alot more. In a wind you may not like it much.

Bending at the waist on "down beats"(usually called honor beats) I only see a southern cloth dancer do. Am I understanding you correctly?

Yeah, it's a little hard to answer your questions because we don't know what tribe you are, or even if you're from the north or the south...

Bending is southern style. It doesn't seem like anyone could give you a public beating for putting ribbons on your dress, but buckskin fringes seem much nicer, even on

Geez louise, don't know what that was about.

Anyway, I was going to say, even on a cloth sleeve, buckskin looks nicer and swings better.

pony_two_shirts: post your tribes and more specific details to your questions and you'll get your answers.
